WELCOME TO THE 77TH
INFANTRY DIVISION
RESERVE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION WEB SITE.
The purpose of the
Association is: To perpetuate the history and
traditions of the 77th Infantry Division and to
provide a common meeting place where all of the
Officers and honorary Enlisted members, and their
Ladies, may have the opportunity to meet and know
each other socially.
"The fact that the 77th Infantry Division was
deactivated in Dec 1965 and that 43 years later our
all-voluntary Organization is still operating speaks
well for the interest on the part of our members.
Letters, calls, voluntary contributions, are also
signs of members' interest and support.
The 77th Infantry Reserve Officers Association is
made up of former soldiers serving in the division
from World War II through Viet Nam. The Association
seeks to bond these soldiers to the 77th's heritage
and create a social network for its members. The
Board of Directors meet monthly at Ft. Totten, and
is supplemented by Florida contingent group
meetings. Our 77th newspaper, "The Lampette," is
published in the Summer and Winter each year,
supplemented by this web site.
Recent achievements include the renaming of the
Clearview Expressway in Queens, New York to the "US
Army 77th Infantry Div Expressway, the
WTC Monument Grove at Ft. Totten,
the dedication of the 307th
Infantry Grove in Central Park, New York, the continuing refurbishment of the Ernie Pyle
Reserve Center drill hall into the
MG Kaine Hall and the
West Point Award".
Other important activities include a West Point
Award to the cadet who ranks highest in "National
Security & Public Affairs," and an Association
plaque in the museum immediately behind the Tomb of
the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA., and a Spring
and Fall social for our members.
