Visit to Normandy

In the photo are, from Left to Right: MG (Ret) Evo Riguzzi, Col (Ret) Vincent J. Montera, SGM (Ret) Anthony Filosa, Col (Ret) Carl Nelson, Col (Ret) Bernard McGovern, Capt (Ret) Donald Nelson, Col (Ret) John Cashin, and Col (Ret) Patrick O’Donnell.

The group was on tour of the Bastogne and Normandy battlefields at the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, which is directly behind renowned Omaha Beach. There are 9,700 American servicemen buried there including BG Theodore Roosevelt Jr. (He is buried alongside his brother Kermit, a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor in World War I). Both fathers of Colonels Montera and O’Donnell were also in Normandy for the landings and served in the Battle of the Bulge.
